This is an M51 Field Parka shell, used mainly in the Korean War. Size and year of manufacture are not readable. The stamp is missing. Probably around 1951-1953.
The M65 Fishtail Parka is currently called the Mod Parka because it resembles the coat worn by the British pop culture "Mods", but the original Mod Parka is this M51 Field Parka. After the Korean War, a large amount of U.S. military supplies were imported to the U.K. and circulated in the general market. At that time, this M51 Field Parka, which could be worn inexpensively without tarnishing fashion, was worn like a store coat in the 1930s and was also used as warm clothes when riding a Vespa. From the above, it can be said that the original mod parka is this M51 Field Parka. It is a very useful parka for bikers and everyday wear.
This item comes with a shell and liner as a set. It is a very heavy set-up. The zipper has probably been replaced. The shell has no noticeable stains, but it does have some signs of use and fading. There are a few repair marks. There is a tear on the right sleeve near the back of the cuff. It is in reasonable Used condition. The shell is in relatively good condition, but there is a tear in the nylon fabric at the bottom. As with the M65 Parka, these are hard to find these days, so don't miss out if you are looking for one. Because it is a used item, returns are not possible. Please understand.
