A jungle fatigues jacket in ERDL Green Leaf camouflage, one of the iconic camouflage patterns of the Vietnam War era. This item is from a 1969 contract and is a MEDIUM-REGULAR size.The contract label on the inside reads “COAT, MAN’S, CAMOUFLAGE COTTON WIND RESISTANT POPLIN, CLASS 2,” and lists the contractor as “TELLICO MANUFACTURING COMPANY.”

The fabric features cotton ripstop with a distinctive grid-like weave. The ERDL-specific pattern—with green as the base color and layers of brown and black tones—evokes a sense of history that would later influence U.S. military camouflage designs.“Color” is particularly important in vintage ERDL. While this piece shows signs of fading from actual use, it still retains the vivid hues characteristic of Green Leaf. It boasts a wonderful patina unique to well-worn vintage items—distinct from both the intense color of a brand-new garment and pieces that have completely lost their color.
