A magnificent piece of history documenting the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean cruises deployed by the U.S. Navy during the Cold War in 1987. This tour jacket was custom made by the crew of the USS SPIEGEL GROVE (LSD-32 ). The heavy wool body and the extremely colorful embroidery are stunning. It is estimated that this jacket was made in the Philippines or Thailand. Also a rare large size!

On the right chest is the **U.S. Sixth Fleet (SIXTH FLEET)** unit insignia patch, on which the slogan "POWER FOR PEACE" is inscribed. It is a symbolic statement that oozes pride in the diplomatic role and mission of the U.S. Navy.

On the back, the name of the ship "USS SPIEGEL GROVE," her home port "OHIO," and the names of the places she visited on her voyages, including Egypt, Kenya, Turkey, Somalia, Italy, Spain, Sicily, and the Suez Canal, are boldly placed along with a powerful embroidery of the stars and stripes and an eagle. The design is truly an "embroidered wake chart," conveying the grandeur of the cruise at a glance.

The name embroidery of "JIM" is on the left chest, the American flag patch is on the right sleeve, the patch of the gear and the mark of the key that symbolizes the engineer department is on the left chest, and the embroidery of the dragon is also on the cuff, and it is a very unique dress with a high possibility of having been reached at the port of call at that time.
