This is an actual survival knife for Green Beret and MACV SOG soldiers developed and procured by the Counterinsurgency Support Office (CISO), a procurement office for special operations equipment in Okinawa in the 1960s. It is commonly known as the SOG knife. It is a very rare knife, and was not issued to ordinary soldiers at all, but only to some soldiers who were members of the Special Forces. This knife was used by a former Green Beret and comes with a photo of the former soldier himself with this knife. The sheath usually comes with a sharpener, but this knife does not.
The knife itself has scratches from being used at the time, and the handle has some signs of use and scuffs from actual use. The sheath has been used quite a bit and the leather has been restored with oil. The strap that holds the knife was damaged and has been restored. The strap is also a restored item. The original parts are included. The restoration has been done to the maximum extent possible to preserve the original appearance of the knife, which had deteriorated in some places due to being stored as it was used at the time. The knife has not been sharpened, so the sharpness is very poor and almost impossible to cut. It is not intended to be used as a knife. It is sold as a historical document and a collection for appreciation only. It is a very valuable knife.
